If you are good at motivation and leadership, than you definitely have the management skills required for property management as a career. Now, most managers need only those skills listed, but property management requires two more. First of all, you need to be good with customer service. You will be working with the tenants a lot. If they have problems, they'll come to you. You need to be able to handle that kind of situation if you want to do property management as a career. You also need to be able to communicate. After all, the property manager interfaces with several different groups of people, including tenants, maintenance staff, and landlords. You'll need to be able to communicate with them all.

As a property manager, you will need to make sure that everything in the building or buildings is running smoothly. If tenants have a problem with maintenance, you will get a hold of the staff members that will take care of that. Also, if there is a vacancy in the apartment building, you will do all of the apartment showing and advertising. You will also administer all of the applications and credit checks.
